Explora respects your privacy. This Privacy Notice explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in accordance with the UK GDPR and other applicable international privacy laws.

1. Data We Collect

• Precise device location (used locally to show nearby points of interest)
• Settings stored on your device (e.g. narration preference)
• Anonymous usage data (e.g. feature interactions such as opening points of interest, starting audio narration, and session duration). This data is used to understand how Explora is used and improve functionality. No personally identifiable information is collected.
• Feedback data (if submitted): category, message, optional location, and device/browser info

2. Cookies and Analytics

Explora uses two types of analytics depending on how the app is accessed:

• Web and Android: We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how users interact with the app. This includes general usage patterns such as session duration and feature interaction. Analytics are only enabled with your consent via the cookie banner.
• iOS App: Explora uses limited, first-party analytics to understand how core features are used (e.g. opening points of interest, starting audio narration, or using sharing and tipping features). These analytics are anonymous, do not use cookies, and do not collect personally identifiable information.

Explora does not engage in tracking across apps or websites and does not use advertising identifiers or device fingerprinting techniques. As a result, App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission is not required.

Cookies are used only on the web and Android versions of Explora to manage analytics consent and basic site preferences. No cookies are used within the iOS app.

All analytics data is used solely for internal product improvement and is not shared with third parties for advertising or profiling purposes.

3. Location Data

Location access is used only within your device to display relevant content. It is never used to track your movement.

4. Feedback Submissions

If you submit feedback through the app, the following information may be collected:

• Your feedback message and selected category
• Your browser and device information (automatically captured)
• Your precise location
• The time and date of submission

This information is used solely to help us improve the functionality, content, and user experience of Explora. Feedback is stored securely, may be reviewed manually, and is not shared with third parties. We do not associate feedback with your identity, and no personally identifiable information is required or expected.

Feedback submissions may be retained for up to 12 months to allow time for review and product improvement, after which they may be anonymised or deleted.

5. AI-Generated Content

Point-of-interest descriptions are generated using artificial intelligence. While no personal profiling occurs, the generated content is based on publicly available data and is intended to enhance the experience without collecting personal information.

6. Advertising

Explora displays Google AdSense advertisements. You may be asked for consent in accordance with GDPR and PECR guidelines, particularly for personalised ads.

When Explora is accessed through the iOS app, Google AdSense is served in non-personalised mode only. This form of advertising does not use tracking cookies or ad-personalisation signals.

7. International Access

This app is accessible worldwide. By using Explora from the EU, EEA, or other regions, you acknowledge that data may be processed under UK legal standards. We aim to meet or exceed the requirements of international privacy frameworks.
